How to Prepare Artwork for Custom Illuminated Signs

You do not need production-ready vector artwork to start a custom illuminated sign project. We can work from a Canva design link, AI-generated image, logo file, screenshot, sketch or rough concept.

Send the clearest version you have along with the target size, intended use, colors, quantity, destination and deadline. We will review it and explain what, if anything, needs to be cleaned up or redrawn for fabrication.

What you can send us

  • A Canva share link with viewing access.
  • An AI-generated image or concept rendering.
  • A PNG, JPG, PDF or existing logo file.
  • A screenshot, hand sketch, photo or visual reference.
  • An editable AI, EPS, SVG or vector PDF file, if available.

Need help creating a logo?

If you do not have a finished logo, you can use Canva’s logo maker to develop a starting concept. Send us the Canva share link or an exported image, and we can review whether the design needs adjustment or redrawing for illuminated-sign production.

Vector artwork is preferred for the cleanest scaling and fastest production, but it is not required to request a quote. Canva designs, AI-generated images and raster files may need tracing, cleanup or a production redraw. We will identify that before fabrication and let you know if additional design work is needed.

If you have editable artwork

If you are sending an AI, EPS, SVG or editable PDF file, outlining fonts and embedding linked assets helps prevent substitutions. Expanding important strokes and removing hidden or duplicate objects can also make production faster. If you only have a Canva link or image, send that instead—we can review it first.

Include dimensions and application details

The design alone does not tell us how the sign will be used. Include the target overall width or height, indoor or outdoor application, mounting surface or display structure, desired illumination, quantity, destination and deadline.

Specify colors and finishes

  • Provide Pantone/PMS values or official brand color references when color matching matters.
  • Identify the desired face, return and trim colors or metal finishes.
  • Tell us whether gradients, shadows and transparency are required effects or only presentation styling.
  • Include a visual reference showing the intended illuminated appearance.

Share access and references

  • Make sure a Canva link has viewing access enabled.
  • Include a PDF, PNG or JPG preview when possible so we can confirm the intended layout.
  • Clearly label the approved version if you send several concepts.
  • Use AI-generated images as visual direction; some details may need to be simplified for reliable fabrication.

What we review before production

  • Spelling, proportions and overall dimensions.
  • Minimum stroke widths and small details that may not fabricate cleanly.
  • Lighting method, color and expected appearance when illuminated.
  • Mounting, power and cable requirements.
  • Finish selections and quantity.

We may recommend simplifying very small details, adjusting stroke widths or preparing a production redraw. Some concepts may require an additional design or redraw fee; we will explain that before proceeding. No sign enters fabrication until the construction and proof are approved.

Artwork submission checklist

  • Clearest available file, link, sketch or concept.
  • Canva link set to allow viewing, if applicable.
  • Target dimensions and quantity.
  • Colors and finishes.
  • Application and display details.
  • Destination and deadline.
  • Vector or editable source file, if available—but it is not required to get started.
